GCA is now offering a dedicated Adult Intake Service, thanks to a generous donation from the Les & Kae Martin Foundation. Families requiring 1:1 Adult Respite can book a comprehensive assessment with a dedicated intake coordinator to find the right services at the right time.
Since 2019, the Les and Kae Martin Foundation has supported GCA to expand our 1:1 respite programming for adults through increasing investments each year. As we continue to grow our adult respite services through this partnership, the demand for these programs is surging. This year, GCA has implemented key developments to address community needs and build program capacity.
Adult Respite Intake Service (18+)
GCA’s Adult Respite Intake Service has been developed to address the challenges our community was experiencing with the online lottery registration system. With additional capacity to accommodate more adults, we have moved to an intake assessment model which offers the following benefits:
It's Specific: A comprehensive intake process will help us to better understand your individual needs and find appropriate services.
It’s Personal: Instead of registering online, you can speak with a dedicated intake coordinator to help you navigate program options.
It’s Responsive: Intake assessments will help us to reduce waitlist times and ensure you can access respite care when you need it most.
It’s Equitable: Providing intake assessments for all families will remove barriers presented through the online registration process to create equal access to these critical programs.

Day Respite Appointments (18+)
GCA is now offering Day Respite Appointments to respond to the most urgent needs of our families. This appointment-style program provides fully funded, needs-based day respite for adults requiring 1:1 support. The new service delivery model offers immediate support to families on the verge of crisis, as well as providing interim respite care for families on waitlists for Evening and Weekend Respite.

About the Les and Kae Martin Foundation
The Les & Kae Martin Foundation is committed to expanding access to quality programming for Autistic adults with complex needs. Since 2019, The Les and Kae Martin Bursary Program has provided free access to GCA’s 1:1 Respite and Summer Camp programs for over 200 adults. The Foundation currently supports GCA’s Adult Intake Service, Weekend & Evening Adult Respite, Day Respite Appointments, Transportation for families in need, and our incredibly popular Summer, March Break and Winter Camp programs.
