Daily schedules are a visual representation of upcoming tasks and activities. They may help your child predict or understand tasks that they will need to complete throughout the day. Schedules can include pictures, text or both depending on what your child needs.  Schedules can be posted in the home, at school or transition with your child, for example, in a notebook or binder. Schedules may provide structure, improve understanding, and encourage independence.
Examples of visual schedules you may use:

  • Morning: breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth, pack backpack
  • Evening: homework, tv time, dinner, bath, story, bed
  • School: circle time, free play, story, snack, recess, craft, gym, home
  • Weekend: quiet play, game, lunch, park, grandma’s house, home, dinner
