Are you looking to increase your child’s/teen’s skill and motivation to perform tasks independently? Do you want to learn a variety of teaching methods that are proven to be effective for individuals on the autism spectrum? This workshop will address how to teach new socially significant skills to children/ teens, including self-care, housework, toleration, academic task, and other common daily living skills. As a part of this workshop, we will discuss assessing your child’s/ teen’s current skill-level, breaking tasks down into manageable steps for teaching, how to best remove yourself from the teaching process, using schedules, self-monitoring and behaviour contracts, and strategies to motivate your child/teen.

Parent/Caregiver Education and Training Workshops are available free to parents/caregivers of Geneva Centre for Autism clients aged 0-18 years old. Parent/caregiver education and training workshops provide an interactive space to learn new skills and strategies to support your child/youth at home and in the community.
