Group Services Worker, Adult Day Respite – Multiple Positions
Part Time Contract: September 20, 2022 to March 30, 2023
 
Hours of Work: Staff must be able to work a minimum of 24 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with flexibility to increase as required.

The Role:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Group Services Workers in the Adult Day Respite program work directly with adults with Autism in a recreational, group setting. Group Services Workers work alongside Shift Leaders to facilitate inclusive programming, work towards individual goal development, and maintain open communication with caregivers.    
 
Core Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
  • Support adult clients with ASD to participate in an in-Centre respite setting
  • Provide direct care to the participants (including personal care), facilitate programming, and maintain health and safety standards
  • Support participants in engaging in a variety of interactive activities that support both recreational and individualized goals
  • Implementation of crisis management techniques where necessary using Crisis Prevention and Intervention.
  • Ensure adequate materials (i.e. visual aids, programming materials, etc.) are available and ready for use each shift
  • Participate in program planning with team members during preparation time
  • Maintain consistent and open communication with participant caregivers
  • Complete daily progress reports on each participant and other documentation, as required
  • Maintain regular contact with the Supervisor/Team Leads regarding all issues pertaining to the program
  • Maintain a clean and organized work/office area
Successful candidates will bring the following:
  • University/college education in a relevant discipline–completed or working towards completion
  • Previous experience providing direct support to youth or adults with ASD
  • Understanding of the principles of applied behaviour analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving, crisis management skills and experience managing challenging behaviours
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Be reliable, dependable, and adaptable
  • Valid CPR Level C Certification
  • Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records Check
  • Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19

Salary:  $18/hour
