Foundation Board of Director Vacancies

GENEVA CENTRE FOR AUTISM FOUNDATION

Is seeking professionals who are looking to make a difference to join its Board of Directors!

Term: A 2-year renewable term.

Our Organization: The Geneva Centre for Autism Foundation (GCAF) is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization located in Toronto. The work of the Foundation Board is critical to the success of the Geneva Centre for Autism (the Centre). Through its fundraising and brand awareness initiatives, the GCAF supports the Vision and Mission of the Centre. Each year the Foundation donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Centre to support over 5,000 children, youth and families by subsidizing an array of programs including our Social Skills Building programs.

Our fundraising activities include our bi-annual world-renowned Autism Symposium and other highly regarded events that support our programs and activities that do not have a stable funding base.

For our Foundation Board, we are looking for action-oriented people who are comfortable connecting with people, or have a large personal network. Fundraising experience is an asset but not crucial.

Qualifications and Experience:

As a leader, you seek to volunteer with an organization that is committed to supporting and enhancing the lives of people with ASD and their families. You also have an entrepreneurial spirit and enjoy the challenge of moving an organization forward. You are comfortable and have experience in:

  • connecting with people in your personal or professional network to support a charitable cause;
  • not-for-profit management, particularly financial management;
  • strategic planning;
  • entrepreneurship;
  • branding and marketing;
  • communications;
  • event management; and/or fundraising.

Expectations: Directors are expected to commit the necessary time to attend board and/or committee meetings, an Annual General Meeting and other special meetings and participate in a board committee. Our committees are Audit & Finance, Human Resources, and Governance.

  • Meetings take place in the downtown/midtown area of Toronto.
  • Meetings and preparation time is about 6 hours a month, plus time for any committee activities.
  • Directors are expected to review all board materials distributed in advance of meetings.
