The Facing Your Fears group therapy program

Geneva Centre for Autism is pleased to announce that we will be running Facing Your Fears in collaboration with Holland Bloorview Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital this Fall 2017. Facing Your Fears is an innovative group therapy program that uses the evidence-based principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety.

Facing your fear

Who is eligible to participate?
Teens between the ages of 16 and 18 years old with high functioning autism or Asperger’s syndrome with:

  • Average to above average intellectual ability
  • Ability to function within a group setting
  • Co-morbid diagnosis or symptoms of social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, separationanxiety disorder and/or specific phobias

When and where will the group run?

  • Geneva Centre for Autism (112 Merton Street)
  • Tuesday evenings from 4:30pm to 6:00pm (starting in September)

What is the cost of the group?

  • There will be no cost for the Fall 2017 session of Facing Your Fears

The success of Facing Your Fears relies heavily on parent involvement during group sessions and at home. Parents are required to attend each session with their child.
