Building on the skills acquired through the Autism Intervener Certificate Course: Level 1, participants will develop an extensive understanding of the challenges and needs related to social skills and social understanding for individuals with an autism spectrum disorder. Participants will learn how to apply this knowledge and explore assessment tools, social thinking and context blindness, intervention strategies, bullying, and peer mediated social skills.
Each participant will be required to complete a Social Skills Assessment Profile on an individual with ASD and select goals and strategies to address the development of a specific social skill. Additionally, participants will be required to also complete a bullying assessment and indicate how they would begin to implement a peer empathy building program specific to ASD.
To successfully complete this course, participants must demonstrate regular attendance and complete all assignments at a satisfactory level. Successful participants will receive a certificate indicating that they have successfully completed the Autism Intervener Certificate Course, Level 2: Teaching Social Skills and Social Understanding.
Participants must attend ALL dates in the same session to complete the course.
