Best Practices and ABA in the Classroom

As outlined in the recently released Policy/Program Memorandum No.140, 2007, Incorporating Methods of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) into Programs for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ABA is an effective approach for understanding and changing behaviour and teaching new skills. This half day workshop will outline the differences and commonalities between ABA and IBI (Intensive Behavioural Intervention), review the principles of ABA, and present an overview of resources that can support implementation. The new Ministry resource guide, Effective Educational Practices for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders will be referenced. This workshop is geared to teachers and teaching teams.
