Autism Intervener Course, Level 1: Asperger’s Syndrome

Description:
Participants will gain a thorough understanding of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and an overview of current intervention techniques. Content will include diagnostic characteristics, current theories regarding causation, learning styles, communication challenges, social skill difficulties, sensory processing differences, anxiety, and using the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (AB) to understand behaviour. Evidence based techniques and strategies for intervention in each area will be reviewed.

Participants will be required to complete a series of assignments as well as a final assignment that will focus on the development of an individual profile. All assignments and the final evaluation will be completed online. To successfully complete this course, participants must attend ALL sessions, complete ALL assignments, and achieve at least 80% on the final evaluation. Contingent upon this criteria, participants will receive a certificate indicating that they have completed the Autism Intervener Course, Level 1: Asperger’s Syndrome from Geneva Centre for Autism.

This course is designed for people who are currently supporting an individual with an ASD and will be limited to 20 participants.
