Description:
This workshop will provide occupational therapists with a detailed review of their role with individuals with Autism and other forms of Autism Spectrum Disorder.  Current trends and perspectives within the field will be discussed with a particular emphasis on the sensory integration theoretical framework.  Participants will be provided with information regarding the characteristics of Autism and the role of occupational therapists in assessment, consultation, treatment and program planning.  A variety of programming resources and materials will be discussed and provided for practical application/implementation.

Format:
There will be a four week break between sessions to allow participants to employ newly acquired knowledge and strategies. When the group reconvenes, participants will have an opportunity to share their experience and receive feedback on individual cases.
Contingent upon regular attendance and submission of an assessment report, participants will receive a certificate indicating that they received Level 1 training from Geneva Centre for Autism.

This course is limited to 20 participants.

Target Audience:
Occupational Therapists recent to the field of Autism and/or recent Occupational Therapy graduates.
