Description: Learn about the factors that can impact behaviour in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This class will include an investigation into the underlying factors that may have an impact on behaviour including: the characteristics of ASD, neurological differences, communication, anxiety, and sensory processing differences. Participants will be provided with a good overview of the functional behaviour assessment and a variety of assessment tools and evidence-based interventions will also be reviewed.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will
- Describe the identifying characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Recognize the impact these characteristics have on an individual’s behaviour
- List the common functions of behaviour
- Look for triggering and maintaining factors of behaviour
