- To increase understanding of prevalence of seizure disorders and its clinical presentation in children with an ASD.
- To gain more in-depth understanding of co-morbid psychiatric disorders with autism, especially schizophrenia.
- To learn about outcomes in recent clinical trials with new medications and discuss implications for their practice.
Outline of Presentation:
Dr. Evdokia Anagnostou is one of Canada’s leading researchers’ in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders. In this session she will provide participants with an overview of the current research in ASD with an emphasis on biomedical interventions including oxytocin, omega 3 fatty acids and medications affecting glutamate and GABA . In addition, she will outline the most recent treatment protocol for medical practitioners as recommended by the Autism Treatment Network.
