From Diagnosis to Intervention: Translating Research into Practice

Special Session for Physicians and Psychologists Only

Outline of Presentation:

This special session has been designed to address the challenges faced by diagnosticians, as they meet families early in their autism experience and throughout the developmental cycle. By bringing together a panel of experts with expertise in diagnosis and intervention, this session will permit participants to actively engage in dialogue about the practical application of current research findings and related protocols and guidelines for practice.

Our panel of speakers will be addressing the following:

  • Diagnostic standards
    • ATN protocols
    • Diagnostic processes for services vs. research
  • Developmental brains mechanisms
  • Genetic issues
  • Cognitive profiles
  • Co-morbidity with psychiatric conditions
  • Use of medication to manage challenging symptoms associated with an ASD
