Henn, Marilyn, R.N. and Henn, Joe, B.A & M.B.A.

Marilyn & Joe HennMarilyn & Joe Henn are parents of a daughter with significant autism who received APSE‘s 1999 National Supported employment award & ASA’s 2003 National award for “Outstanding Individual with Autism”. They have presented nationally and as keynote speakers on how they developed transition services that let to their daughter’s full-time employment as a mail courier and microfilmer as well as a fully integrated life in the community.

Marilyn Henn, a registered nurse and has received extensive training in behavior management, transition and supported employment from experts across the country.

She has been an Outreach transition training Coordinator for Kent State University, President of both her local and the State of Ohio Autism Society chapters and, along with her husband, presented for Virginia Commonwealth University’s Research and Rehabilitation Training Center’s internet training series. She & her husband were both the only invited parent members of a task force event in Washington D.C. bringing together the Department of Labor, the Office of Disability Employment Policy and VCU staff to get “out of the box” on how to better employ individuals with disabilities and make their lives richer with appropriate supports.
