Building Independence in Your Child - Part 2

This 2 part workshop will address how to teach new socially significant skills to children including self
-care, housework, and other common daily tasks. Parents will learn to assess their child’s current skill
-level, break the skill down into manageable steps for teaching, and implement a variety of teaching
methods that are proven to be effective for individuals on the autism spectrum. The use of selfmonitoring
strategies and behaviour contracts will also be discussed as methods to increase your
child’s skill and motivation to perform learned tasks independently.
