At Geneva Centre for Autism we are passionate about the power of information and learning. In addition to delivering exceptional services and programs we provide families and professionals with cutting-edge training and resources. This comprehensive and collaborative approach has built the Centre’s reputation as a leader in the field. Perhaps most importantly, it has positively impacted the lives of individuals living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Get Informed.
We know that raising a child with an Autism Spectrum Disorder can be an incredible challenge. We provide your child with quality, evidence-based services while they are in our care. However, we believe that you have an important role to play in reinforcing the work that we do. We encourage you to participate in and glean all that you can from our workshops and support groups.
Get Involved.
There are a wide range of workshops and groups for you to attend. We encourage you to make the most of each workshop and/or meeting. Voice suggestions, share concerns and connect with other parents/caregivers during this process. Each workshop is a rich learning experience especially designed for you. Roll up your sleeves, take a deep breath and really participate.
Get Inspired.
Like you, we believe that your child is a gift and has great potential. We may not have a single magic answer because each child on the spectrum is unique. However, our workshops will provide you with a menu of proven options. You will begin to notice that with diligence and reinforcement at home your child will fly over his/her personal hurdles. These seemingly small but profound victories will move your child and family forward on this journey.
Where do I Begin? Parents are encouraged to attend each of the seven Foundations and Special Topics Workshops .
What are Foundations? The Foundations provide parents with basic information on autism that is drawn from clinical literature and a clear understanding of the specific challenges facing their child and how to cope with these challenges.
What are the Special Topics? Special Topics offer practical strategies in a small group setting. They are designed to follow a specific Foundation. The facilitators of any Foundation session can advise parents of a Special Topic based on their current situation and concerns.
When are the sessions offered? See our Calendar . They are offered to parents/caregivers only and there is no cost to attend the sessions.
