Invitation for young adults with developmental disabilities to share their experience of planning for adult life.
The Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Ministry of Community and Social Services in Toronto Region are working to build ways of helping young people plan for their life as adults. We would like to speak with young adults 18 to 25 years old who have a developmental disability about their experiences planning for and changing to adult living. We would like to learn about things that are helpful and things that are not so that we can help community agencies plan better with people.
We are holding a meeting at our offices at 477 Mount Pleasant Road, 3rd Floor, on the evening of October 4, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. to hear about the experiences and ideas of young adults. This meeting is specially planned to hear from people who have a developmental disability. A friend or helper may come along if someone needs help to include their ideas in the discussion. People will be asked to share their experience of what has been helpful to them and thoughts about what should be a part of good planning.
