Autism Spectrum Disorders affect thousands of Canadian children each day. According to current statistics, one in every 165 children is affected by autism.  At least one in 10 people will be touched by autism in his or her lifetime - whether it's a sibling, classmate, teacher or friend.

Autism Spectrum Disorders are lifelong disorders that affect every part of people’s lives from how they work and play, to how they learn. People with autism struggle with common everyday actions such as making eye contact, eating, getting dressed and responding to questions most people would find easy to answer.

An autism diagnosis can be devastating and frightening for everyone involved. But beyond the initial emotional shock, individuals and families must learn to live with the disorder. What many people may not realize is children and youth with autism still have a chance to lead full, happy and sometimes independent lives.

Given their special needs, people with autism require extensive amounts of support and intervention to develop the skills necessary to fit into society. Geneva Centre for Autism is committed to meeting this need. We are committed to enabling individuals with autism to participate more fully in school, at work and in their communities.

The number of people requesting a service at Geneva Centre for Autism has increased more than 150 times in the last ten years. The number of people diagnosed with autism is growing quickly and it is becoming very hard to keep up with this high demand for service.
