Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD):
Speech/Language Pathologist Certificate Training Program-Level 1
This is a three part course (16.5 instructional hours).
This course is limited to 20 participants who are Speech/Language Pathologists.
This course will provide speech/language pathologists with a thorough understanding of the learning styles and teaching strategies to individuals with ASD. Content will include the following areas: overview of autism spectrum disorder, communication assessment procedures, sensory integration issues, treatment and programming ideas incorporating communication, sensory, and behavioural techniques, integrating current philosophies and theories into program implementation, visual aids and teaching strategies, augmentative communication systems and strategies. Participants will be required to complete an assignment and write a final evaluation.
Participants will be awarded 15 OSLA Continuing Education Credits (CEC’s) and receive a Certificate indicating that they have been trained by Geneva Centre for Autism contingent upon regular attendance and satisfactory completion of the assignment and final evaluation.
