Workshop Description

Parents and professionals have used Social Stories™ for many years to effectively share social information with children, adolescents, and adults with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other social-communication delays and differences. Using lecture, discussion, and case examples this presentation 1) briefly defines Social Stories™ and the rationale and research supporting their use; 2) describes new formats that add meaning to Social Stories™; and explores the potential of the very new StoryMoviesä. This is a fun, fast-paced, upbeat presentation that introduces participants to the latest Social Story™ research, theories, and innovations!

Workshop Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  1. define Social Story™,
  2. identify how PowerPoint® may be used to enhance meaning in a Social Story™; and
  3. describe StoryMoviesä and their potential for use as part of a social understanding curriculum.
