Promoting Independence: Teaching Independent Behaviour Using Activity SchedulesDo you have difficulty getting your child to engage in functional play or leisure activities independently? Does your child require an adult to be present giving cues in order to stay on task or complete any activity? Learn how to implement an Independent Activity Schedule (IAS), a structured tool that is used with children with ASD to support the development of independence. Use your child’s existing strengths and interests to develop greater independence on on-task behaviour. Topics to be covered include reinforcement, graduated guidance, shadowing and other prompt-fading strategies for teaching your child to follow an Independent Activity Schedule (IAS).

Activities can include, but are not limited to, play/leisure activities, dressing, bathing, homework and cooking/food preparation.

This is a two part workshop.

This workshop is only open to clinical clients of the Geneva Centre for Autism who live in GTA.
