Teaching Social Boundaries and Relationship Building in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) PDF Print

Does your child have difficulty in distinguishing between the different types of people in their lives?  Does your child often break the ‘unwritten’ social rules and boundaries?  Does your child misinterpret the closeness of relationships they have with others?  Is your child expressing an interest in building closer relationships and/or dating?  If you have responded ‘yes’ to the above questions then you may want to know more about the CIRCLES® Program and how it is used at Geneva Centre for Autism to teach children, adolescents and adults to navigate their social world.

This 3-part workshop explores the CIRCLES® Program and its uses to teach individuals how relationships are built and maintained according to the social norms of our day and age.  Parent/caregivers learn the coloured CIRCLES®, their meanings and how each represents a different level of talk, touch and trust.  ‘Public vs. private’ concepts are also discussed.

This workshop is only open to clinical clients of the Geneva Centre for Autism who live in GTA.

Please note:  The 3rd session of the workshop is intended for parents of adolescents and adults with ASD.  The session focuses on the more subtle skills needed to manage complex relationships and social boundaries; specifically dating and sexuality.
