Dr. Lucy Jane Miller is co-founder of the STAR Center and Founder and Director of Research for the KID Foundation (Knowledge In Development) which she founded in 1978. She was mentored by Dr. A. Jean Ayers in sensory integration theory and practice, and as a research scientist was granted an NIH career award to investigate Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD).
Dr. Miller’s research program investigated SPD at the Children’s Hospital of Denver from 1995 – 2005, during which she was an Associate Professor in Rehabilitation Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She authored several nationally standardized assessments for children, three of which have become standardized assessments internationally. Dr. Miller’s book, Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder (Putnam Press) will be available April 2006.
