Peter Szatmari, M.D. PDF Print
Child psychiatrist Peter Szatmari has been working in the field of autism and pervasive developmental disorders for 20 years. His research has included investigating the clinical expression of Asperger Syndrome, conducting a follow-up study of high functioning PDD children with autism and other types of pervasive developmental disorder, a family study of autism/PDD, a study of the genetics of autism (supported by CIHR) and a study of anxiety and mood disorders in adolescents with Asperger Syndrome and autism (supported by the Ontario Mental Health Foundation).

Dr. Szatmari is currently Professor and Vice-Chair, Research, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University, the Director of the research training program in the department, and a member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies. Dr. Szatmari is Editor of the journal, Evidence-Based Mental Health, and serves on the editorial boards of several other journals.
