National Volunteer Appreciation WeekGeneva Centre for Autism is very proud to salute and pay tribute to our amazing team of volunteers. Our volunteers contributed more than 24,000 hours of service last year to our programs , supporting children, adults and families.

Recent statistics show only 24% of Canadians aged 15-29 years volunteer for a significant duration.  Geneva Centre for Autism is fortunate that 80% of our volunteers are in this age group.  We also have extremely dedicated corporate volunteer teams who play a very important role with Geneva Centre for Autism Foundation.

Without our extensive network of trained volunteers, our programs would lack sufficient staff support to ensure successful learning in a safe environment. Our volunteers also participate in the successful fundraising resulting in important programs that do not receive government funding.   Last year the time, talent, energy and enthusiasm of over 270 corporate, weekly and student volunteers contributed an overall value of $300,000 of direct funding support for our clients.

As a measure of our gratitude, all our vast training opportunities are offered free of charge or at a much reduced rate to volunteers and, for those pursuing a future career in the autism field, all our clinical resources can also be accessed.

While we recognize our volunteers year round, for National Volunteer Appreciation Week 2008 we are very pleased to spotlight special individuals and groups for their extraordinary commitment. Please see the profiles below for more details.

On behalf of everyone at the Geneva Centre for Autism and Geneva Centre for Autism Foundation, we would like to extend our warmest wishes of thanks and congratulations to all of our incredible volunteers.  Thank you for taking action for autism.
