All parents who have registered with Geneva Centre for Autism and have spoken to one of our Social Workers are encouraged to attend The Foundation sessions at any time during their involvement with the Centre.
What are The Foundations?
Six parent education sessions including the following topics:
When are they offered?
Each Foundation is offered once per month. See the parent calendar for dates and times.
How will they help parents?
The Foundations provide an essential and comprehensive ‘building block’ of
knowledge aimed at empowering parents, building their confidence and facilitating their ability to
make choices about ways to intervene in their child’s development. They offer
an opportunity for parents to gain
insight into behaviour and communication interventions for their child as well
as to share common issues and concerns associated with Autism Spectrum
Disorders (ASD).
The Foundations have clear “outcomes” or expectations about what parents
will learn about Autism Spectrum
Disorders and what they should be able to do as a result of having
participated in the sessions. Parents will receive helpful handouts and
resources.
